In August of 2010, contact was made with the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics to get
permission to install a UHF repeater at their facility.
The approval to install a repeater at the hospital was
granted on September 2, 2010, and the permit for coordination was submitted to the Wisconsin Association of Repeaters on September 27, 2010.
In October a Vertex VXR-7000 UHF repeater, CAT-1000 controller, DL-1000 audio delay
board, and a Sinclaire 4 cavity Q3220E duplexer were purchased from Charles Buggs, WX9BUG in the amount of $1,200.00.
In addition a Diamond X50NA dual band antenna, (temporary), was also purchased as the first repeater antenna.
On November 6, the CCRA was founded, and the first charter members were:
- Chad Nelson WI9HF
- Calvin Williams K9CAL
- Charles Buggs, WX9BUG
The first web site for the CCRA was published at http://www.capcity-ra.org
On March 5, 2011 the coordination of 443.775 MHz was granted by W.A.R, (Wisconsin Association of Repeaters).
In late March, an additional purchase of a DR-1000 Digital Voice Recorder was purchased for the system from Computer Automation Technologies.
This board will provide voice messages, audio signal check, and more.
On September 10, 2011, at 4:33 PM the 443.775 repeater came online.
This system used a Diamond X50NA dual band antenna as its
main antenna system over the fall of 2011, and the winter and spring of 2012

On March 19, 2012, the new Cellwave Super Station
Master UHF antenna,
- model 11512N
On August 23, 2012, the Diamond X50NA antenna that was temporarly being used as the repeater antenna was upgraded to a Cellwave Super Station Master; model 11512N.
This antenna made a vast improvement in over all coverage, and increased the range of the repeater.
The first official meeting of the Board of Directors of the CCRA was held on February 23, at 6:00P.M at Alt n’ Bach Bar and Grill in Madison.
Present at the meeting were,

- Randy Brink, W9RDB
- Sondra York, KC9CPX
- Travis Shrader, K9EEZ
An election of officers was held on the same evening, and the following people were elected to the board with a voice vote:
- President, Chad Nelson, WI9HF
- Vice President, Travis Shrader, K9EEZ
- Treasurer, Joe Muns, KC9WPV
- Secretary, Sondra York, KC9CPX
The board positions were determined to last one year, and be up for election the following year.
In addition to the meeting on February 23, there was also the addition of an Echolink node to the repeater.
This node was established in late February, and was housed at the home of Chad, WI9HF.
The echolink station used a Rigblaster nomic interface between the computer and radio.
The computer was donated by Charles Buggs, WX9BUG for the echolink project.
The link was being run through a Kenwood TM-733A link radio using the input of the repeater.
The link node was provided as a full time, 24 hour a day open access system.
On March 14 the 443.775 was linked to the K9TSU 147.345 repeater in Monroe via a RF link.
this linked repeater system provided coverage from Dane county through the state line counties of northern Illinois
